lately...

we brought henry to the beach for the first time.

henry turned four months old.  and in the span of a week, he learned how to blow raspberries and roll over.

henry's first October. and the cutest pumpkin hat you ever did see.

the first time i baked with BOTH my boys.

henry just being his usual adorable self.  in his favorite spot - mom and dad's bed.

it's not october til you hit up the pumpkin patch!

behold...awkward family self-timer on a hay bale pic.

and carve pumpkins!

finn moved to a big boy bed (!) and henry moved to the crib!

we are that shameful family who dons the Christmas p.j.'s weeks before thanksgiving.  but that's where it ends.  oh, and the twinkle lights in finn's room.  i couldn't resist!

i mean...

swoooooooooon.

lasagna dinner with the abernethy's!

henry just being ridiculously delicious on a sunny Saturday afternoon.

finally....HALLOWEEN!

henry tried on finn's first costume.  our little pea pod.

we trick or treated with nerdy baby Jacob!

when they are both in stripes, i can't help myself.

we made a thankful tree.  mom and dad were thankful for things like hot water, our house, each other, avocados, wine, beer... and finn was thankful for mz. lori, cheese, his cuddle, his grandparents and tantes, and bell peppers.

we are a grateful bunch.

three months

well, despite my begging and pleading, this boy went and turned three months old (a month ago).

he is happy, smiley, and just all around good.

he tolerates tummy time, still isn't fond of wind or bright light (but who is really), and doesn't care for day time naps.

he loves long walks, cuddling and eating,  but most of all, his heart belongs to his big brother.  i am sure that henry believes finn hung the moon.

henry also started getting a little chunky in his third month, despite the fact that he also started spitting up A LOT!

when all else fails, we go outside to watch the leaves dance.

what was our life like before henry?!?

not nearly as great.

preschool!

the first day of preschool certainly deserves a few decorations, a theme and a special dinner, don't you agree?!

burgers are our go-to lately.  and finn is a big fan of his daddy's bbq.

we didn't want to hype it up too much or go overboard, but we suggested that finn's goal for the year should be kindness.  i don't care what he learns, just be a good friend.  it's kind of a tall order for him sometimes, but it is our greatest hope!

oh this boy!  he melts me.  the pants, that combover, the chucks.  it was almost too much.

we are lucky.  grandma's house is about five houses down from the nursery shool, so we start there most mornings.  it's cozy.  and easy.  and so fun.

finn had quite a send off...grandma and grandpa great, alex, rachel, and oma too!

on our way!  me and my big boy.

alex is also a napa valley nursery school alum, like me and my sisters, and he offered to escort us.  it felt pretty special, especially since he is now off to college and because daddy had to work.

when we got there, finn found a dump truck and quickly said goodbye!  the second day wasn't as easy, but we will get there.  i know it.

i am just so proud of this preschooler of ours and am so excited for him.

lately...

rachel and kelly threw a lovely little labor day bbq, complete with a STUNNING lake view.

we found a new park to explore.

i took this picture and promptly felt my heart explode into a million little pieces.

henry looking cute in stripes.  whats new.

we bought a little slide for finn's birthday, which of course is more fun when paired with water.

we enjoyed lots of tante visits.

sometimes play can be so tiring.

henry finally got to meet sweet charlotte!  who quickly put him to sleep and held him for the entire visit.  i think i found a future babysitter!

these two love tending to the tomatoes together.  it's their "thing".

this is the picture i chose for finn's preschool cubby.  i love it so.  despite the runny nose.

eating outside just feels special.  this night we enjoyed venison from papa!

quite a few walks around the block in this fire truck!

oma visits always make us happy.

tante em!

these two took their sandwhiches and ate outside one day.  it was pretty adorable.

washing the car is very serious business.

mimi and pops came for bbq one weekend.  and apparently, mimi and finn spoke beforehand and agreed to wear salmon colored shirts.

daddy love.
