there have been a lot of new babies in our life recently. but it never gets old. and each time i enter a hospital and navigate unfamiliar hallways searching for that new baby that i am about to meet, i am filled with both anticipation for what is to come and notalgia for what has been. i certainly feel the weight of the moment, remembering finn's arrival and knowing that whichever baby i am about to see for the first time, that first meeting will leave an indelible mark upon me.
i know that i won't forget it.
and such was the case, when i went to meet little rocky douglas last week. just one day old!
it always amazes me when i see a friend for the first time as a mother. changed forever but still the same girl i always knew. and as beautiful as ever!
and steve and carol's pride filled the room.
and behold, this little fella... big sigh. the entire time i was there he was just taking in his new world and hardly uttered a peep. those big eyes were already filled with wonder.
what a sweet, sweet baby boy.
