down by the seashore

we headed out on big trip back in may!  so we prepared by getting a haircut, packing far too many bags, and trying on our swim suits.

this was finn's first flight!  i was a little nervous so i decided to take the edge off with a mimosa. but thanks to all people we had to entertain him (and thanks to treats)-he did great!  once we arrived in orange county, finn had a blast exploring the hotel.  i don't blame him; i love hotels too.

the next day we headed off to california adventure.  it was a bit cloudy, but that did nothing to dampen my excitement.  the second we got in line, that magical music began playing.  you know, the Disney orchestra play list...? it makes my heart pound every time.  and maybe i squeal too.

we had so much fun in cars land...finn has never seen the movie but he is somehow obsessed with mater and lightening mcqueen.  he ate cotton candy.  he slept in his stroller like a sweet little boy.  his daddy won him a stuffed dumbo.  it was pretty perfect.

after dinner, mimi and pops kindly took finn back to the hotel while we rode radiator springs and screamed like school kids.  it was crazy fun.

even though we were in the happiest place on earth, i am pretty sure finn's favorite parts were the hotel halls, the buffet breakfast and that lion.  the lobby featured a nature scene with a very realistic looking lion that would open his eyes and roar every half hour.  two months later, finn still talks about that lion.

the next day was magic kingdom day! i couldn't contain myself.  finn dressed appropriately and freaked out with excitement on the jungle cruise.  we rode it three times.  he loves those monkeys.

magic.  pure magic.

and i can't get enough of these pictures.  like, we look at them every day.

after all our fun in Anaheim, as if that wasn't enough, mimi and pops took us down to Huntington beach to relax seaside and in luxury.  it was such a perfect way to end our trip... we swam, we pulled out finn's "resort" attire, and we soaked up the views...

the world's most wonderful playground:

we ate well, we drank well and we read lots of books on that big bed.

we celebrated mother's day with a fancy lunch at duke's.  i pretended we were in maui and ryan helped me keep the dream alive by ordering me a chi chi-the signature drink of our honeymoon.  swooooooon.

we couldn't get enough.

its a lot of me in these pictures, but oh how i treasure these pictures with my boy.

on our last day, we woke up early for more beach fun, rented a bike and tried to savor every minute.

it's so hard to end a vacation.  but we felt so lucky to have one at all.  it was all kinds of magic.
