If your name is "Abernethy", this is what the Fourth of July looks like...
Two labradors seem so fitting on Independence Day, don't you think? Especially if they are two old friends named Jill and Annie. Just give these two a couple of brightly colored mu-mu's and some outrageously gaudy flip-flops and they will look like two little old ladies soaking up some rays at the retirement community pool- don't you think?
Some pieces of my mama's totally cool retro "Americana" collection...
If this is not a "picture window".... I don't know what it.
If your last name is "Kelly", this is how a happy Fourth of July ends: A little red wine to cure the thirst...
...tasty burgers and fruit...
...and a handsome BBQ'er. We are all about the charcoal now and it does not disappoint.
What's the Fourth, without a little fire? Sadly, we have a collection of firecrackers all year long. In the old days, when we were blinded by youth and stupidity, we would climb up on our roof and toss them down to the street. However, we have since learned that is not entirely wise. We now sit in camp chairs on the sidewalk with a garden hose nearby. Yes, like two grumpy sixty year olds. Whatever. It's still rad.
To see the big fireworks show, Mr. Kelly told me had a surprise. So we packed in the car and hit the highway. We ended up somewhere that I could never find again if I tried, parked the car and started walking. I was skeptical and yet, very excited. My Mr. Kelly always has tricks up his sleeve and they are usually verrrrry romantic. I was led into a field with an amazing view of the city below us and soon three different counties firework shows started. All at the same time. It was perfect.
