Over at Casa de Awesome, we do parties BIG. Well, really, my Mama and Daddy do parties big, the rest of us get to enjoy them and help with the dishes. Doesn't matter if it is an ordinary Wednesday, a grand engagement party, or just a family BBQ...they are always FANTASTIC. Parties at Casa de Awesome are memorable because of several reasons:
1) My mama is a "burn your candles" kind of lady. Which basically means, nothing is off limits. She pulls out her favorite old tablecloths, treasured party glasses, excellent liquor, and yes, she burns her favorite candles. You see, the greatness of the parties has nothing to do with grandeur and glamour, (you are never going to find caviar at a Casa Party) but has everything to do with the warmth you feel the second you walk in the door.
2) The food.....oh the food. It is always fresh, well-planned, and perfectly executed. My parents have a system that works like magic: Daddy BBQ's and Mama does the rest.
Fresh salmon from Idaho. Caught by a real Native American. No joke, friends!
3) Their hostessing skills are honed. To the max. For instance, they greet each guest with a smile and hug (sometimes a kiss too if you are lucky), immediately offer you a drink and welcome you to take a seat at the bar or by the BBQ, depending on your preferences. They somehow manage to keep track of the pot on the stove and the shrimp on the barbie, all while truly enjoying themselves, and putting their guests at ease. Making it seem entirely effortless. Genius, I tell you.
4) Casa de Awesome has a pool. Four-wheelers. And a trampoline.
5) The last, but certainly not least, reason why parties at Casa de Awesome are so great is because everyone really has fun at their parties, I mean check out these faces.
And yes, we all called each other in advance and agreed to coordinate peach with navy.
Not really, but nothing beats coincidences between sisters and cousins. These are our party faces.
Last Wednesday, the Casa de Awesome party crew gathered to celebrate my dear Grandmother's birthday.
She is quite a gem... and we love her so. Grandma's favorite thing is a family gathering. I must say, I couldn't agree more...
Family style, al fresco. That is how we roll.
After our bellies were full and the presents were opened, we all gathered for a fireside chat, complete with ice cream and coffee. I love Wednesdays that end like this one did.
