We had many plans for our staycation, but ended up spending most of our time lounging in the late Summer sun, cooking, making crazy fruit cocktails and doing LOTS of dishes. We found ourselves in that kitchen, and at the kitchen sink probably 60% of the time, but laughed, danced and sang our way through.
He arrived bright and early and we quickly got to work after breakfast and a trip to the grocery store for provisions. When it's Saturday, and Trevor comes to visit, cocktails come first. This time it was Juice of a Few Flowers, which I found fitting due to our neighbor's grapefruit tree that meanders over and drops it's bounty on our side of the fence... sweet.
And then we played some dress up and got to work grooming. Eyebrows, fake tanner and eyelashes. That's just how we roll when we are together. We had to make ourselves pretty for all that lounging in our future.
As you can see, we stayed very busy.
We joined forces to cook dinner on Saturday, including chicken, garlic bread and salad...and Trevor made his family's famous rice recipe-think green onion, garlic, mushroom and beef broth. It is always on the menu during vacations at Buck's Lake and I am just smitten with it. And I may or may not have made my mom's cheesecake for Trevor...because he loves it. And I love him. So there.
A fine day it was and we headed to bed late into the night with happy tummys and happy hearts, dreaming of Sunday's big outing!
Stay tuned for Labor Day Weekend - Volume II...
